We offer biology classroom products that incorporate universal design for learning (UDL) to include more learners in biology. Our products cover important topics in almost all biology classes: cells, biological molecules, diversity, cell division, and tissues.
Cell Zone® products are not just fun- they are necessary
Some students in your class may not understand the material without a new approach. What teachers have found who use our products is that for a student with a disability or different learning style, the difference between using our products and not using them is not just a step up in grade, it is achieving versus not achieving. Meanwhile, your more traditional students will do better. That's the beauty of Universal Design for Learning-- everyone can do better.
Cell Zone® products promote inquiry
Begin using Cell Zone products in your classroom and your students will immediately be involved, cooperating, and asking questions about biology. The products are designed to promote student interactions and learning about essential biology topics.
Cell Zone® products instantly transform a classroom into an active learning environment
Just bring our products into your room and give them to your students to turn your classroom into a student-centered, active learning environment. Students learn as they engage with our products. No lecture is necessary to get them started with learning.
Cell Zone® products were designed by a teacher for teachers
Dawn Tamarkin designed these products based on her 20 years of experience in teaching biology at a community college. The products are geared to help students learn essential biology information (and not just memorize it) through hands-on interactions and inquiry. Regardless of a students' abilities/disabilities or learning style, these products will enable learning.
Cell Zone® products reach a wide range of students
Although developed by a college professor, Cell Zone®, Inc. products work for students of many ages. Learning about cells can lead to proficiency of Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) as early as 5th grade (toward describing matter that is too small to be seen). The concept of the cell is specifically addressed in the NGSS by middle school and continues through high school. The cell is then also taught in college introductory biology classes and cell biology classes. For this reason, the Dynamic Cell Models can be used with all ages from 5th graders through college students. The Diversity Kits reach content specified in the NGSS from the 2nd grade, so we have one kit geared toward elementary and middle school students, while another is for high school and college students. Our Mitosis Sequencing Kits and Molecular Puzzles meet the learning needs of high school and college students. The posters can be used for any classroom.
